Greetings,
My name is Latwainfa Beal and I live in Southeast Ga. I have a 21yr. old Autistic daughter who is now out of school and unfortunantly where we are located there is no support groups are activities for the autistic society. I am currently in school working on completing my assoc. in sociology, but I want to open a facility for autistic youth. What type of degree should I concentrate on seeking to prepare me for my endeavors?
Thank you for the comment. There are probably several different degree tracks that would help you. If I were in your shoes, I would call similar facilities and ask to speak to the director. I understand that there aren’t any in your area however you can try calling directors of programs in Atlanta and ask them what their educational background is. Good luck to you in your venture!
I am in the Walton County area..Monroe. Is there anything around here? I have an 8yr old boy that has been diagnosed with ADHD since the age of 4. He was recently diagnosed with Aspergers. I am currently homeschooling him and his twin (who is being assessed now) due to the problems they had in school. They have had an IEP since pre-k but when the teacher is not educated in these issues you have problems. I am wondering if there is a school or something in my area for this? Or even somewhere they can go for a couple hrs a day for extra support & teaching?
