Yael Center VML Workshop in Los Angeles

Israel’s Dr. Elad Vashdi is bringing his Verbal Motor Learning workshop to the United States on Sunday, March 23, 2014. According to the workshop flyer, “The VML (Verbal Motor Learning) method is used for treating Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS). The VML method uses manual techniques and motor learning principles in order to teach the child how to pronounce consonants, vowels, syllables and words. It also gives solutions to pre-verbal stages such as: oral-motor control, oral sensory condition, and breath control.” Although this isn’t an autism-specific workshop, CAS is sometimes comorbid with ASDs.

Workshop Objectives:
The participant will learn of the VLM method development and structure
The participant will learn of the latest CAS research results and implications
The participant will practice chosen manual techniques
The participant will learn of the evaluation form structure
The participant will practice analysis and decision making process of the VML through a case study
