10 Things Not to Say to Parents of Children with Autism [Graphic]

The May Institute, a nonprofit organization that provides educational and other services to children on the autism spectrum, published a list of 10 Things Not to Say to Parents of Children With Autism to support Autism Awareness Month 2012. That post is one of my most shared posts here at The Autism Education Site, so I decided to turn the May Institute’s list into a graphic.

If you had to add your own item, what would you tell other people not to say to parents of children with autism?

  1. Need to add; Maybe he will grow out of “it”. This is my favorite as all of my relatives including my own father say about my son, none of them ever really caring or believing that autism exists, but that I as a mother must have made God mad, as this only happens to people that need to be punished for not living their life the right way with God. I don’t talk to my father anymore.
