PGA Player Ernie Els Raising Funds for Autism Center

Professional golfer Ernie Els is raising funds for The Els Center of Excellence, an autism center in Palm Beach County. Els’ son, Ben, was diagnosed with autism in 2005 and the PGA player wants to help other families of children with autism.

“The Els for Autism Foundation was established in 2009 by Ernie and Liezl Els and has since embarked on a catalytic philanthropic project – The Els Center of Excellence. The Foundation has launched a capital campaign to raise $30 million to finance the facility; the Els’ have already committed $6 million of their own money. It will focus on a global digital learning platform that will give children on the spectrum around the world access to best practices in education and therapy. It will also help connect the international autism community with best practices and the very latest information and research. This first of its kind Center will also have an on-site education facility, medical and professional services, research and transition to adulthood.” Source: Els Center of Excellence
